new texture feature I have got one month to spend on haptic textures. Are there any features you like to see in this field? All suggestions are welcome, if it is good enough to fit in my thesis, I may look into it.
Thanks Tom |

Re: new texture feature Seems interesting. What do you intend to do in the field? And what do you mean by haptic textures? Do you mean using an image mapped to the surface to define different values such as friction and stiffnesses or do you mean the more general sense of creating any kind of surfaces with different feelings?

Re: new texture feature I have currently limited my scope to mainly using depth maps to create surface properties. I want to look for the best way these kind of textures can be used in information visualization applications. So I'll be creating some surfaces to represent data, looking for ways to map visual data properties (color, height, randomness,...) to haptic counterparts.

Re: new texture feature Interesting! What is your main research question? I know that some research has been done along these lines in 2004 by Wall and Brewster.
