Calibration of PHANToM Desktop on 3D-IW(17-inch)
Hi,
I'm having problems using a PHANToM Desktop with the SenseGraphics 3D-IW(17-inch).

I can't move the stylus around freely. The boundaries of the workspace are small.

Please let me know how to calibrate the device. I have tried using candy tool but didn't help. While using candy also, samples are collected in that small region only...I can't go beyond that.

Did all the guess work for values of orientationCalibration and positionCalibration matrices in the PHANTOM Desktop calibration file.

If you have working calibration matrix on a similar setup...please post it here. I'm using H3D default viewpoint and also viewpoint specific node in the application is also same as H3D default.

If you want good calibration you should create a viewpoint for your specific display. If you have a somewhat recent version of Candy you should get a wizard gui to fill in your details.

You should be able to start off with the unit matrix before using the Candy Calib tool. When you've used the calibration tool, is your calibration still off, even in the tool?

Thanks for the reply.

Even in the tool the calibration is way off. I'm guessing it's some problem with hardware.

When you run Calib do you see the blue stylus? Does it move when you move the device? Does it move in all dimensions not just in a 2D plane or along a line? If you answer yes to all these question then there is probably something wrong in the calibration procedure.

Hmm, I'm having a similar problem. Except I get my stylus to align with my device while moving along the x-y plane, but in the Z-direction my stylus doesn't align at all so as I move the robot along the z-axis the visual alignment is off. The stylus on the screen doesn't follow along the Z-direction at all, is there anything that you can think of that would be the cause of this?

Thanks in advance

Are you saying that the stylus does not move in the z-direction no matter what you do?
How does your position calibration matrix look like? I mean the end result that you got from candy?

[EDIT] nevermind I just noticed your other post, that explains in greater detail.
