H3D API with Quanser HD2 Hello, I have never used H3DAPI. I only used OpenGL and C++. Before I also used OpenHaptics.
We have one HD2 quansar device. As I am not familiar with MATLAB, I can't develop any application using Quansar. Quansar asked me to install H3D and use it as a graphic interface. Now I only know OpenGL. I think H3D uses DirectX. Will it be convenient to use Quansar with H3D? Please advise me. |

Re: H3D API with Quanser HD2 You could try using the QuanserDevice node. I have no idea how well it will work though since it is probably quite untested. It might be that you need latest H3DAPI trunk for this or wait for the next release.

Re: H3D API with Quanser HD2 I already talked with quansar. They don't have any graphical interface for developing application in C++/ OpenGL as OpenHaptics does. Only MATLAB/Simulank-based visual and haptic interface they provide. As I am not familiar with MATLAB, when I asked about developing application, they said that I may use visual interface provided by H3D.Then I can only use haptic interface provided by quansar as they have haptic interface in C++.
As I wrote in my previous posting that I am familiar with OpenGL, not DirectX. I am not sure how convenient it would be for me to develop application. Also I need suggestion about integrating H3D with Quansar. Please give me some suggestions. |

Re: H3D API with Quanser HD2 The best place to start with H3DAPI and how it works is to read the manual in the documentation section. Then you would need the quanserdevice code that we already have and see if it fits your purposes. It is quite untested so I am not sure it works properly. All you need to use quanser in H3DAPI is two classes. One that does the low level connection to quansers device and one that expose the device as an X3D node so you can use it in X3D files.
Install latest release of H3DAPI and add see if you can compile it with quanser support. Or use latest trunk (would probably be better). See the wiki http://www.h3dapi.org/modules/mediawi ... ation#Source_Repositories on how to get latest trunk. |
