It can also be used for other purposes where the haptic feedback is not limited to surfaces and other spatially limited objects, for example to generate guidance fields.
Three different types of nodes are provided by the toolkit: volume data handling nodes, visualization nodes and nodes for generating haptic feedback. For more information about the haptic technology used in this toolkit and examples of what volume haptics can do, see these publications:
